DIRT - Finding the Perfect Trail |
The New Mexico State Land Office, the Bureau of Land Management, the National Park Service, the Department of the Interior and the National Forest Service are all interested in supporting a destination for 4-Wheel Drive, All Terrain Vehicles, and Motocross enthusiasts in the southwestern United States. Their level of commitment has resulted in the appropriation of approximately 1,400 acres of rugged wilderness area in the high desert of Sierra County, NM.
This proactive move was made in order to greatly reduce the current burden and future threat to public and private lands from enthusiasts who are seeking recreational activities. HSMD proposes to design and develop a recreational and competitive destination for all types of off-road performance vehicles.

Trails will be marked according to degree of difficulty; Green=Easy,
Blue=Moderate, Black Diamond=Difficult, Double-Black Diamond= Extreme.
This naming convention is currently used in ski resorts and warns
guests to run according to their training and skill levels. Course
liability will be effectively transferred to the guest through a
ticketing and signed release statement.
In the meantime, here are some valuable documents about regulations, trail safety and how to maintain our precious natural resources.
